About

Introduction

My name is Anthony Farr, I graduated from the University of North Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems and Minor in Business Administration. I am passionate about technology and learning new things every day. I currently am the IT/IS Director for a group of Zaxbys Franchise owners (restaurant). Working in a small business environment has enabled me to develop a diverse skill set. I have worked on projects in many different languages such as C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, Python, C++. However, my most efficient environment is utilizing the laravel framework with PHP and MYSQL and then obviously front end frameworks such as jQuery, Bootstrap, Datatables.net, Google charts and several others.

Hardware

Additionally, I have responsibilities of handling all of the IT hardware support and upgrades throughout the company. This has enabled me the opportunity to learn a lot and quickly. Some examples are administering our Linux server, mail servers and office 365 integrations. Also I run an internal PBX system to route calls to different store locations and many more features that then come along with VoIP. I also have experience in developing and integrating different types of sensors and devices using Arduino and RaspberryPi into applications.

Currently - Portal System

I currently am designing an internal web portal that is referred to as the, "Jaszportal". The Jaszportal was originally designed for internal use within the company. However, the portal has become a great asset to all restaurants in the industry. Right now the system is finishing up the beta stage where it is used by 8 restaurants. I have written every line in this portal system solely myself. The portal is built on a PHP framework called, "laravel" and utilizes MYSQL for the database. The front end uses bootstrap, jQuery, Datatables.net, Google charts and several others. I also developed wireless temperature sensors that are to be placed in coolers with expensive food products. The sensors then connect to a main hub using wireless radio technology which then stores the temperature values into the portal database using APIs I developed. The portal will dispatch text message alerts to the proper personal if the temperatures of the coolers ever fall into the temperature danger zone. The system provides many great unique key features and benefits so check the project out in my portfolio section!

Future Plans

Through the success of this portal I plan on creating a new company (which will be posted soon) with the current franchise owners as my partners where we will be selling the Jaszportal as a SaaS (Software as a service) to other restaurants. I also plan on branching out to many other key industries in business such as schools and ect. One plan is to create an internal portal system for doctor's offices which will integrate with health sensors that will communicate with the portal system via tablets and attach the data to patient profiles. As technology grows there will be more sensors integrated into my development to gain health statistics, benefits and business intelligence. Another platform I plan on developing is a system for current researchers to share lab test results, ideas, findings and other important information categorized by the diseases or health issues. I realize in most cases researchers don't necessarily want to share their data and findings but for the few that want to work together it will be available.
